You may of noticed by now in practically every store you can now see Adult Colouring books popping up. They seem to of popped up almost overnight and have almost as much shelf space as regular novels in most stores. Something that seems like it started overnight has fast become a national trend. Like anything there is conflicting views on the web from different Psychologist on if this actually qualifies as art therapy or not and if there is any benefits to this. Most say that there are benefits to colouring such as a way to relax & unwind at the end of the day. According to the Art Therapy Association “art therapy can be used to assist with depression, reduce stress, manage feelings & behaviors, develop your social skills, reduce anxiety and increase self esteem”
Whatever the case is for you specifically it can be fun and helpful with many things. So why not try it out and see if it has any benefits for you? I decided to try it out, and I do find it to be a good way to unwind at the end of my day. If nothing else it is fun!
