Burning down the house Your home is on fire. Grab five items (assume all people and animals are safe). What did you grab? Tonight’s post is inspired by a wordpress writing prompt.

Have you ever sat down to think about what you would do in this situation?  I know it’s something I’ve quickly thought about but never really sat there and made myself a list of what those items would be encase of an emergency. Since all people and animals would be safe what else would I save… I would say probably be:

  1. My purse because it hold important things like an ID and bank cards etc that would be good to have with me.
  2. Clothes, depending on if it was in the night or the time of year I would definitely grab either a change clothes or a coat whichever was more important to me at the time.
  3. Important medications I may be on at the time.
  4. My phone, so I would still have a method of communication.
  5. Finally my car keys so I would have access to my vehicle.

In my opinion this is a good thing to think about, So Your home is on fire, what five thing would you take that are important to you?  Share in the comments below

  1. You have a great liste Crystal. I listed my list below 🙂

    1) handbag because it has all of my important information.
    2) jewelry box
    3) my small file organizer where I have all my important documents.
    4) a couple of family pictures.
    5) few jeans, tops and shoes

  2. Our house burned down 3 years ago. Fortunately, we were still remodeling and hadn’t moved in yet. We were supposed to move in a week later, and the new appliances had been delivered the previous day.

In this situation, I think your list is great. I’d take my purse, car keys, phone, laptop, and perhaps my jewelry box.

This is a tough one. I’d definitely get my bag which has everything from my wallet to my phone. I never take anything out unless I have to. Aside from that, I’d take my envelope of important documents and then my laptop. Some clothes would be great if I have time. And this is all assuming that my kids are already safe and sound outside otherwise, I’d come to them before grabbing whatever essential is near to me.

  4. In my old apartment, I had a crate with important documents like birth certificates, social security, etc in case of an emergency, so that would definitely be on my list. It’s important to always be prepared for an emergency.

  5. i don’t know if i have 5 material things that i would grab but, i’ll try:
    1. my ID – anyone who has ever lost their ID and had to go through the process of getting it back knows why that’s my number one choice.
    2. photo albums
    3. contact lense case & solution – it might be a long night
    4. my glasses
    5. my phone

    I guess i did have 5.

  6. My Grandma’s burned 14 years ago. And she only brought a new bought towel. Funny right?! Haha! And i just only cried maybe because i was just 14 before. But if u asked me, what to grab? I’ll grab my:
    my kids of course.
    a little clothes

  7. This really made me think, I just realized I have so many things, big and small, I am unnecessarily attached to. If I have to trim it down to 5, I guess it will be

1)cell phone-need it to keep in contact with family and friends
    2) documents and identification cards-it will take hours and a lot of inconvenience to get copies
3 and 4 my laptop and camera-I am a full time food blogger
    5) photo albums-I know almost everyone keeps digital files now but I love scrapbooking and prefer hard copies of family photos
